Group-Based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
for Managing Anxiety in Children and Teens
with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
Children and teens with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) are at high risk for developing anxiety symptoms
that interfere with daily life at home, school, and the community. Youth with ASD and anxiety demonstrate significant reductions in anxiety following participation in modified Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) interventions. Facing Your Fears is a group CBT intervention for managing anxiety in youth with ASD
that can also be used in individual contexts. Effectively managing anxiety symptoms can help children and adolescents become more successful in academic settings and participate more fully in their daily lives.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
This training is recommended for professionals working
in autism clinics, school boards, mental health centres,
and private practice who are interested in delivering
the Facing Your Fears program.
Continuing Education Units (CEU) will be provided.
