In this 3-day certificate program, participants will explore mindfulness theory and practice, and learn accessible and engaging ways to share mindfulness and neuroscience-info with children, adolescents and families in age-appropriate, playful and creative ways. By the end of this workshop participants will gain practice-based experience in facilitating mindfulness exercises and conducting inquiry. They will be able to identify considerations for leading mindfulness-based activities, practices and discussion, along with how to engage children and adolescents in mindfulness practice in individual, family and group therapy settings. This program will utilize didactic presentation, interactive discussions, videos, teach-backs, small and large group experiential exercises, live demonstrations and coached practice facilitation. Participants will also be provided with a detailed handout package, including a format for structuring a mindfulness group, sample scripts and a variety of child-friendly mindfulness activity handouts that can be used in their relevant setting.
