Introduction to the Journey

Becoming a psychologist is a rewarding journey that includes key steps from undergraduate studies to licensure. Here’s an overview of the process:


  1. Complete an Undergraduate Degree in Psychology: Your foundational step into the field.
  2. Apply to Graduate Programs: Pursue a Master’s and/or Doctoral degree in a CPA-accredited program.
  3. Engage in Supervised Practice: Gain hands-on experience in clinical settings to prepare for professional practice.
  4. Pass Licensure Exams: To become licensed, you’ll complete the Examination for Professional Practice in Psychology (EPPP), the Ontario Jurisprudence and Ethics Exam, and an Oral Exam after supervised practice.
  5. Register with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO): After fulfilling all required steps, you can apply for registration with the College of Psychologists of Ontario (CPO).
