From a professional standpoint, the OPA has built a professional network via our referral services, Listserv, and website as well as webinars and conferences that help provide education, links to research and connecting with your peers. Not to mention that a strong membership helps build a positive enhancement of our profile with Government, key stakeholders and to the public which in turn increases our influence, visibility and allow us to better support our members.
Naturally, there is also the discounted BMS liability Insurance we offer our members. Despite COVID the OPA has achieved a lot this year, including development of partnerships with Ontario 211, OCFP, AFHTO, NPAO, Alliance for Heathier Communities, for mental health treatment. We partnered with the City of Toronto to ensure Toronto's frontline workers receive the mental health support they need including hosting a City wide conference on Managing Mental Health in the Workplace.
This year the OPA was selected to present at the 27th Annual Canadian Conference on Global Health with the Red Cross. We also announced an incredible discount perks program for our members that includes discounts from over 3000 businesses. We started our ON Psych Podcasts with host Dr Jonathan Douglas. We created a Quarterly OPA Newsletter as well as a monthly Marketplace Newsletter.
Our Advocacy efforts with the current provincial government have included advocating for expanding the scope of practice to include prescribing, Autism, Long Term Care workers, Auto Insurance reform, COVID Psychological support program, improve Post Secondary psychological support services, address Development Services Ontario access and services issues to name a few.
