Pearls of wisdom and NEW applications from renowned scholar DR JEROME SATTLER
This training will be offered in English. A copy of Dr. Sattler’s new book, ASSESSMENT OF CHILDREN: COGNITIVE FOUNDATIONS AND APPLICATIONS, Seventh Edition, will also be provided to each participant.
Following Dr Sattler’s presentation, Drs Reisinger and Garcin will present a more in-depth review of assessment “Knowns and Unknowns” for the assessment and diagnosis of Intellectual disability, Global developmental delay, Autism, and ADHD. Diagnostic formulation and pulling all the assessment data together for diagnostic differentiation will also be offered.
Objectives
Conceptual or theoretical-clinical content-
– This course focuses on the neurocognitive assessment of children. Child psychological development, clinical and educational psychology are covered. Theories of intelligence are also addressed by Dr. Sattler. We will include the following topics:
- Assessment processes and methods
- Intervention processes and methods
- Common factors (suggestion, psychotherapist’s attitudes, client’s setting and expectations, relational quality and communication skills)
- Critical tools (scientific methods, such as quantitative research, statistics and qualitative research including epistemological models, among others, hermeneutics and phenomenology)
- Human development and its issues, including cultural issues, classification of mental disorders and psychopathology
