About Me
Presenting Concerns: I offer psychotherapy for adults struggling with issues like:
- Depression
- Anxiety (e.g., social anxiety, health anxiety, panic attacks, phobias, generalized anxiety and worry)
- Bipolar disorders
- Substance use
- Psychosis
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
- Attention-Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
- Emotion dysregulation and anger
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
Approach: I believe in the importance of helping you live the most fulfilling life possible. I aim to do that by working together to find out what matters most to you, figuring out what’s getting in the way of your fulfilment, and providing you with relevant tools and strategies to help you get there. I’ll work with you towards your goals while prioritizing collaboration and non-judgment in our sessions.
I work primarily from a Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT) approach with a humanistic foundation, and incorporate strategies from Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI).
Training/Experience: I received my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from York University. My dissertation research focused on how clients and therapists fit together and work productively through a concept called the working alliance. My predoctoral residency was at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), with rotations in the Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy for Psychosis (CBTp) Service and the Borderline Personality Disorders (BPD) Clinic. For the next five years, I remained at CAMH as a postdoctoral fellow and staff psychologist in the CBTp Service. I started working in private practice in 2014 and founded WG Psychology in 2020.
About Me: When I’m not working, I love spending time with my family, reading, playing sports and games, and exploring the outdoors.
